2. Identify the district where your university is located and choose an apartment nearby. 

Warsaw is the largest city in Poland, its population is almost 2 million people. As for public transportation, it is well-developed. In addition to buses and trams, there are two subway lines. It is worth ensuring that you live close to the area where your university is located. Choosing such a solution will certainly provide a lot of time savings. Warsaw is divided into 18 districts, each one with its own administrative body, covering nearly 517 square kilometers. It might be a headache to get from one side of the city to another. Śródmieście is a central district of Warsaw embracing the oldest part of the city (Old Town and New Town), as well as a new built-up area established after World War II at the site of destroyed neighborhoods. In this part of the city, you will find the most representative buildings and places in Warsaw. You can find here: the Presidential Palace, Ujazdowski Park, Royal Castle, Pilsudski Square, and some important capital monuments such as the Palace of Culture and Science, Old Town (Royal Castle, Sigismund’s Column or Cathedral) or a tremendous Łazienki Royal Park. Wola is one of the central districts of Warsaw. A big part of Wola is currently turning into a business district. The surroundings of Plac Europejski are currently one of the most impressive and modern parts of Warsaw with skyscrapers constantly popping up. The historic and most famous Polish graveyard Powązki (comparable with Père Lachaise in Paris) is located in the northern part. Muranów is one of the most unique living districts in the world. The housing estate was built on the ruins and rubble of the former ghetto. Modernism and social realist ideals characterize the architecture of Muranów. Currently, this neighborhood is heavily modernized, every day there are created new apartments, theaters making it one of the calmest and most pleasant places to live.


Powiśle is a large residential complex, which is an integral part of the Śródmieście district. Powiśle is one of the greenest and coolest areas in the city. Żoliborz is the smallest district of Warsaw located directly to the north of the city center. 4. Booking process.

Remember that if you have any questions, you can always contact a agent for assistance. 

Once the landlord accepts your offer it’s time for payment. The first amount you will pay includes the reservation fee and the first month’s rent in advance. Payment must be made within 12 hours, by bank transfer or online card. Now it’s time to pack your luggage and book your flight to Warsaw!

5.  Move in! 

When you leave the airport all you have to do is take an Uber or use public transport and you’re on your way to your new apartment! What should you do before signing a lease contract? 

 When you are already in the apartment, check if nothing is missing in the apartment or seems broken, the best time for the landlord to replace or fix anything you believe might be necessary is at the beginning of your lease. Make sure you fully understand the rules written in the contract, only then should you sign it.

Carefully read through the contract and pay attention to details. We listed a few points which need to be included in your lease contract:

  • payment method, the recommended method is to pay via bank transfer to the owner’s bank account – ask your landlord for such a possibility,
  • the personal data of the landlord and tenant,
  • the duration of the lease, we do not recommend signing 12 monthly contracts if you are not sure how long will you stay in Poland – ask the landlord for a lease notice period (in Poland usually it is from one to three months),
  • the costs of the lease, and what it includes, utilities such as gas, water, and electricity are not always included in the rental costs and are normally for the tenant’s expense,
  • the payment deadlines,
  • the deposit and the form of return. According to the Polish law, the landlord has 30 days to return the deposit.

 Remember that the deposit is fully refundable by the landlord if the standard of the apartment is maintained in the same conditions as during check-in, so it is worth taking care of tidiness during the entire stay. What are your responsibilities as a tenant? The most important thing is paying rent and bills on time. You must also have in mind the fact that you are not alone and you have flatmates (read how to be a perfect flatmate here) and neighbors. This means that you have to respect them and try to find a common language that will help you to live in harmony.
